In January, 2013, as approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, XISU began to offer first-level doctoral programs in foreign languages and literatures. In 2014, the University established one research center for postdoctoral fellows authorized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the National Administrative Committee of Postdoctoral Researchers. Over 60 years, XISU has transformed from a purely foreign language-oriented institute into a comprehensive university that highlights education in foreign languages and international humanities, together with focus on social, managerial and natural sciences. The University is one of the major education bases of foreign languages in northern China, which plays an irreplaceable role in foreign language education and research in northwestern China.
